Sports Writing & Broadcasting

Michael Preston is a regular contributor to publications in the United States and United Kingdom, writing commissioned features and stories covering a wide range of sports, particularly football and soccer.

He has written for such titles as the Chicago Sun-Sentinel, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The Guardian, Honolulu Advertiser, Orlando, Sentinel, Rocky Mountain News, Tampa Bay Tribune and the Super Bowl game day program. Events covered include the Super Bowl, World Bowl, Arena Bowl, MLS Cup, National Football League, Major League Soccer, National Hockey League, NFL and NFL Europe training camps, the Women’s World Cup, and preseason tours of the United States by top European soccer clubs FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Juventus, Chelsea, Liverpool and Celtic and the England national team.

Broadcast experience includes debating cirrent sporting topics on ESPN Shows Outside The Lines and The Hotlist and on BBC Radio, and reporting from New England Patriots training camp for Sky Sports.

Michael Preston has worked as a sports editor and sports reporter for Midland Independent Newspapers and Mirror Group Newspapers (UK) and contributed to two books ghost written for English soccer hero Alan Shearer.

Preston Consulting has assisted international broadcasters on game day at eight Super Bowls, providing them with statistical information, talking points and celebrity studio guests. Broadcasters include Channel 5, BBC Five Live, Sky Sports, ITV (all UK), NTV (Russia), ORF (Austria), Canal Plus (France), SAT1 and DSF (Germany).
